Toyota Tacoma (2015-2018) Service Manual: Steering Angle Sensor Internal Circuit (C1433)

DESCRIPTION

Steering angle sensor (spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly) signals are sent to the skid control ECU (master cylinder solenoid) via the CAN communication system. When there is a malfunction in the CAN communication system, it is detected by the steering angle sensor (spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly) zero point malfunction diagnostic function.

DTC Detection Condition

Trouble Area

C1433

Either condition is met:

  1. With the IG1 terminal voltage at 9.5 to 17.4 V, the skid control ECU (master cylinder solenoid) receives an error signal from the steering angle sensor for 0.012 seconds.
  2. An open in the sensor power supply circuit for 1 second or more.

WIRING DIAGRAM

Refer to DTC C1432 (See page CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT ).

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

HINT:

  • When any of the speed sensors or the yaw rate and acceleration sensor (airbag sensor assembly) has trouble, DTCs for the steering angle sensor (spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly) may be stored even when the steering angle sensor (spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly) is normal. When DTCs for the speed sensors or yaw rate and acceleration sensor (airbag sensor assembly) are output together with DTCs for the steering angle sensor (spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly), inspect and repair the speed sensor and yaw rate and acceleration sensor (airbag sensor assembly) first, and then inspect and repair the steering angle sensor (spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly).

PROCEDURE

1.

CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

(a) Check for DTCs (See page ). Result ).

Rear Speed Sensor RH Malfunction (C1403,C1404)
DESCRIPTION The speed sensor detects wheel speed and sends the appropriate signals to the skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly). These signals are used for brake control. The speed sensor rotors have rows of alternating N and S magnetic poles and their magnetic fields change when the roto ...
