Toyota Tacoma 2015-2018 Service Manual: Steering Angle Sensor Internal Circuit (C1433)

DESCRIPTION

Steering angle sensor (spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly) signals are sent to the skid control ECU (master cylinder solenoid) via the CAN communication system. When there is a malfunction in the CAN communication system, it is detected by the steering angle sensor (spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly) zero point malfunction diagnostic function.

DTC Detection Condition

Trouble Area

C1433

Either condition is met:

  1. With the IG1 terminal voltage at 9.5 to 17.4 V, the skid control ECU (master cylinder solenoid) receives an error signal from the steering angle sensor for 0.012 seconds.
  2. An open in the sensor power supply circuit for 1 second or more.

WIRING DIAGRAM

Refer to DTC C1432 (See page CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT ).

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

HINT:

  • When any of the speed sensors or the yaw rate and acceleration sensor (airbag sensor assembly) has trouble, DTCs for the steering angle sensor (spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly) may be stored even when the steering angle sensor (spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly) is normal. When DTCs for the speed sensors or yaw rate and acceleration sensor (airbag sensor assembly) are output together with DTCs for the steering angle sensor (spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly), inspect and repair the speed sensor and yaw rate and acceleration sensor (airbag sensor assembly) first, and then inspect and repair the steering angle sensor (spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly).

PROCEDURE

1.

CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

Child restraint systems
A child restraint system for a small child or baby must itself be properly restrained on the seat with the lap portion of the lap/shoulder belt. The laws of all 50 states of the U.S.A. and Canada now require the use of child restraint systems. Points to remember Studies have shown that instal ...
