Detection range of the sensors

The diagram illustrates the approximate areas covered by the intuitive parking assist sensors around the Toyota Tacoma. Objects located within these areas may be detected by the system; however, objects positioned extremely close to the vehicle may fall outside the effective detection range and may not be recognized.
The actual sensor detection range can vary according to the shape, position, angle, and other characteristics of the object. For this reason, the distances shown should be regarded as approximate rather than as fixed boundaries for every type of obstacle.

Intuitive parking assist buzzer
A buzzer sounds while the sensors are operating and an applicable object is detected. The warning pattern changes according to the approximate distance between the Toyota Tacoma and the detected static object, helping the driver judge how close the vehicle is while maneuvering.
- The buzzer sounds at increasingly shorter intervals as the vehicle moves closer to a detected static object. When the distance decreases to approximately 1.0 ft. (30 cm), the intermittent warning changes to a continuous tone to indicate that the object is very close.
- When 2 or more sensors detect static objects at the same time, the buzzer warning corresponds to the object that is closest to the vehicle. This gives priority to the obstacle presenting the shortest detected distance.
- After an intermittent buzzer has started sounding, it will automatically become muted if the distance between the vehicle and the detected static object does not continue to decrease. This prevents the warning tone from sounding continuously when the Toyota Tacoma remains at approximately the same distance from the object.

Adjusting the buzzer volume
The buzzer volume for intuitive parking assist, RCTA, and RCD (if equipped) can be adjusted together through the customization settings. Changing this setting applies the selected volume level to all of these applicable driver-assistance warning functions rather than adjusting each one separately.
Muting a buzzer
When the temporary mute switch appears on the multimedia display, the driver can select it to temporarily silence the applicable warning buzzer. The mute function is intended for temporary use and does not permanently disable the underlying detection systems.
Selecting the switch temporarily mutes the buzzers for intuitive parking assist, RCTA, and RCD (if equipped) together. Visual information provided by the applicable systems may still remain available while the audible warning is muted.
- The temporary mute function will be canceled automatically in any of the following situations:
- When the shift position is changed to another position.
- When the vehicle speed increases beyond the specified operating threshold.
- When a sensor malfunctions or the applicable system becomes temporarily unavailable.
- When the currently operating assistance function is manually disabled.
- When the engine switch is turned off, ending the current operating cycle.
