INSTALLATION
PROCEDURE
1. INSTALL FLYWHEEL HOUSING SIDE COVER
(a) Install the flywheel housing side cover to the cylinder block sub-assembly.
2. INSTALL STARTER ASSEMBLY
(a) Install the starter assembly with the 2 bolts.
Torque:
37 N·m {377 kgf·cm, 27 ft·lbf}
(b) Connect the engine wire with the bolt and nut.
Torque:
Bolt :
8.0 N·m {82 kgf·cm, 71 in·lbf}
Nut :
9.8 N·m {100 kgf·cm, 87 in·lbf}
(c) Close the terminal cap.
(d) Connect the starter assembly connector.
(e) Connect the engine wire with the bolt.
Torque:
13 N·m {133 kgf·cm, 10 ft·lbf}
3. INSTALL STARTER COVER
(a) Install the starter cover with the 3 bolts.
Torque:
12 N·m {117 kgf·cm, 8 ft·lbf}
4. INSTALL EXHAUST MANIFOLD SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

5. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
Torque:
5.4 N·m {55 kgf·cm, 48 in·lbf}
NOTICE:
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

1. INSPECT CONNECTING ROD THRUST CLEARANCE
(a) Using a dial indicator, measure the thrust clearance while moving
the connecting rod back and forth.
Standard thrust clearance:
0.15 to 0.40 mm (0.00591 to 0.0157 in.)
