Toyota Tacoma (N400, 2024-2026) Owner's Manual: 12.3-Inch Multi-Information Display

The multi-information display provides fuel efficiency information along with a wide range of driving-related data, helping the driver monitor important Toyota Tacoma vehicle information while driving.

The multi-information display can also be used to adjust display preferences and other available vehicle settings, allowing supported functions to be configured directly from the instrument cluster.

Display contents

The following information is displayed within the individual areas of the Toyota Tacoma multi-information display, with each section assigned to specific types of vehicle and driving information.

   When driving support system information is already shown in the content display area, the system operating status will not also be displayed in this dedicated area.

 Liquid crystal display

Small dark spots or bright spots may occasionally appear on the screen. This phenomenon is a normal characteristic of liquid crystal displays and does not indicate a malfunction, so the Toyota Tacoma display can continue to be used normally.

WARNING

Caution for use while driving

• When operating the multi-information display while driving, pay close attention to traffic conditions and the safety of the area surrounding the Toyota Tacoma.
• Do not look continuously at the multi-information display while driving, as doing so may prevent you from noticing pedestrians, vehicles, objects on the road, or other hazards ahead.

Changing the meter display

The multi-information display is controlled using the meter control switches, which allow the driver to navigate between screens, select items, and operate supported display functions.

1. : Change displayed content and scroll up or down the screen
   : Change the screen and move the cursor between available items
2. Press: Enter/Set
   Press and hold: Reset/Display customizable items/Display the cursor, depending on the selected screen or function
3. Return to the previous screen or menu
4. Display outgoing and incoming calls and call history information

When linked with the hands-free system, information for outgoing or incoming calls can be displayed on the Toyota Tacoma multi-information display.

For detailed information about operation of the hands-free system, refer to the "MULTIMEDIA OWNER'S MANUAL".

Changing the display

The multi-information display is operated using the meter control switches, allowing the driver to move between available content areas and select the desired information screen.

 Changing the meter display type setting

The meter display type setting can be changed through " Settings", allowing the available instrument display configuration to be selected.

 Changing the screen

Select items from the available combination of 3 screens to display across the 3 content display areas, allowing the Toyota Tacoma instrument cluster layout to be arranged according to the driver's preference.

Press or on the meter control switches to scroll through the available screens.

 Changing the display contents

Changes the items shown in each content display area (left/center/right), allowing the Toyota Tacoma multi-information display to be arranged according to the driver's preferred information layout.

1. Press and hold to display the cursor on the content display area (center).

2. Press or to move the cursor and select the desired content display area.

3. Press or to select the display items available for the chosen content area.

 Items displayed in the content display area

Select which items are enabled or disabled for the content display area (left/right), allowing the available Toyota Tacoma information screens to be customized.

1. Press and hold to display the cursor on the content display area (center).

2. Press or to move the cursor and select the required content display area.

3. Content display area (left): Press to display the available contents list.

Content display area (right): Press to display the available contents list.

4. Press or to select the display items you want to configure.

5. Press to enable or disable the selected items.

WARNING

Caution for use while driving

For safety, avoid operating the meter control switches while driving whenever possible, and do not look continuously at the Toyota Tacoma multi-information display while the vehicle is moving.

Stop the vehicle in a safe location before operating the meter control switches whenever extended interaction is required. Failure to do so may lead to an incorrect steering wheel operation or loss of attention, potentially resulting in an unexpected accident.

Fuel Economy

1. Current fuel economy
   Displays the instantaneous current fuel consumption, providing a real-time indication of how fuel is being used under current driving conditions.
2. Average fuel economy
   Displays the average fuel economy since the function was reset, or the average fuel economy calculated after starting or refueling.*1, 2, 3

The average fuel economy option selected under Fuel Economy on the " Settings" screen is shown on the multi-information display.

*1: Use the displayed fuel consumption value as a reference only, as actual fuel usage may vary depending on Toyota Tacoma driving conditions and vehicle operation.
*2: Average fuel economy after starting is reset each time the engine stops.
*3: Average fuel economy since the function was reset can be reset by pressing and holding .

Eco Driving Indicator

1. Eco Driving Indicator Zone Display
   Shows the suggested Zone of Eco driving together with the current Eco driving ratio based on acceleration, providing a visual reference for economical accelerator use.
2. Eco driving ratio based on acceleration
   If acceleration exceeds the Zone of Eco driving, the right side of the Eco Driving Indicator Zone Display will illuminate, indicating that acceleration has moved beyond the suggested economical range.
3. Zone of Eco driving
   Indicates the range associated with economical acceleration and helps the driver understand the current Toyota Tacoma Eco Driving Indicator display.

Driving support system information display

Select this display to view the operational status and related information for the following Toyota Tacoma driving support systems:

• LDA (Lane Departure Alert)
• LTA (Lane Tracing Assist)
• Dynamic radar cruise control
• Cruise control
• PDA (Proactive driving assist)
• PCS (Pre-Collision System)

Map display

Displays map information provided by the navigation system, allowing the driver to view relevant route and location data directly on the Toyota Tacoma multi-information display.

The displayed map size can be changed by pressing , making it possible to switch between the available map views.

Navigation system-linked display

Select this display to show the following information linked with the navigation system:

• Route guidance to the selected destination
• Compass display (heading-up display)

Audio system-linked display

The current operating status and related information for the audio system can be displayed on the Toyota Tacoma multi-information display, allowing supported audio information to be viewed within the instrument cluster.

Driving information display

 Drive information

Two items selected using the "Drive Info Items" setting (average speed, distance, and total time) can be displayed vertically, allowing the driver to choose the Toyota Tacoma driving information that is most useful for the current trip.

Use the displayed information as a reference only, as the values are intended to provide general driving information.

The following items can be displayed.

• "Average Speed": Displays the average vehicle speed calculated since the engine was started*
• "Distance": Displays the total distance driven since the engine was started*
• "Total Time": Displays the total elapsed time since the engine was started*

*: These items are reset automatically each time the engine stops, so the displayed values apply to the current engine operating period.

 Trip information

Two items selected using the "TRIP A Items" or "TRIP B Items" setting (average speed, distance, and total time) can be displayed vertically, allowing separate trip-related information to be monitored on the Toyota Tacoma display.

Use the displayed information as a reference only, as actual driving conditions may affect the values shown.

• "Average Speed": Displays the average vehicle speed calculated since the display was last reset*
• "Distance": Displays the total distance driven since the display was last reset*
• "Total Time": Displays the total elapsed time since the display was last reset*

*: To reset an item, display the desired information and press and hold until the reset operation is performed.

Tire inflation pressure

Displays the inflation pressure of each tire, allowing the driver to check individual Toyota Tacoma tire pressure information directly on the multi-information display.

Traction monitor display (4WD models)

1. Front tire direction display
   Displays the amount of steering input and the steering direction through changes in the position of the front tires shown on the display, providing a visual reference for the current wheel direction.
2. Wheel spin display
   When a tire is spinning, the corresponding icon on the display changes color and blinks to identify the affected wheel.

   This item is displayed only when the driving mode is set to sport mode.

   The illustration is provided as an example and may differ from the image that is actually shown on the Toyota Tacoma multi-information display.

Trailer settings screen

• Trailer settings screen

1. Displays the name of the currently selected trailer, or "No Trailer Selected" when a trailer has not yet been selected for the Toyota Tacoma.
2. Add a new trailer or select an existing saved trailer
   • Up to 10 trailers can be saved in the system for later selection.
   • Select the trailer name, length, hitch type, brake type, and number of axles to define the trailer configuration.
   • The parameters that can be configured depend on which trailer-related systems are installed on the vehicle.

     These may include the Trailer Brake Controller, Trailer Backup Guide, and Trailer Mode BSM.

3. Deselect the currently selected trailer
   • This option is used when a 4-pin trailer connector has been disconnected. A 4-pin trailer connector disconnection cannot be automatically detected by the Trailer Brake Controller, so manual deselection may be required.
4. Edit the parameters of a saved trailer, including its name, length, hitch type, brake type, and number of axles.
   • The parameters available for editing depend on which of the trailer systems are installed on the Toyota Tacoma, including the Trailer Brake Controller, Trailer Backup Guide, and Trailer Mode BSM.
5. Delete a saved trailer when its stored configuration is no longer required.

• Trailer detail screen

1. Displays the name of the current trailer that is being added or edited, allowing the driver to confirm which Toyota Tacoma trailer profile is currently being configured.
2. Change the name of the trailer to make the saved trailer profile easier to identify.
3. Change the hitch type of the trailer between ball hitch (conventional), gooseneck, or fifth wheel. Note that gooseneck and fifth wheel trailers are not supported by some features, including Trailer Backup Guide and Trailer Mode BSM.
4. Change the length of the trailer. If the exact length is not listed, round up the actual length of the trailer to the closest available value shown by the system.

"Auto" length detection can also be selected as an alternative to manually choosing the trailer length.

5. Change the number of axles to match the trailer configuration.
6. Change the brake type (electric or electric over hydraulic) and the weight of the trailer, or turn trailer brakes off for that trailer when applicable.
7. Save the trailer information after confirming that the selected settings are correct.

If there are any errors with the trailer values, select the appropriate value again or delete and re-save the trailer profile. If the error continues, contact your Toyota dealer for assistance with the Toyota Tacoma trailer settings.

Trailer brake (if equipped)

Displays the current trailer brake control status and the selected trailer type*, providing relevant towing information on the multi-information display.

*: To select the trailer, press and hold the meter control switch.

Trailer mode BSM (if equipped)

Displays the selected trailer length* and the current trailer blind spot status, allowing the driver to review information associated with Trailer Mode BSM.

*: To select the trailer, press and hold the meter control switch.

Clinometer

The clinometer displays the Toyota Tacoma inclination toward the front, rear, left, and right within a range of 0º to approximately 30º, providing a visual indication of the vehicle's current angle.

1. Degree markers of incline to the front and rear
   Indicate the vehicle inclination in degrees in the forward and rearward directions.
2. Degree markers of incline to the left and right
   Indicate the Toyota Tacoma inclination in degrees toward the left and right sides.
3. Pointer
   Indicates the degree of the vehicle inclination in comparison with a parallel line, providing a clear visual reference for the current angle.

Voltmeter and Engine oil pressure gauge

1. Voltmeter
   Displays the charge state, allowing the driver to monitor the electrical system information provided by the gauge.
2. Engine oil pressure gauge
   Displays the current engine oil pressure while the engine is operating.

NOTICE

Voltmeter

If the voltmeter indicates 19 V or higher or 9 V or lower while the engine is running, there may be a battery or charging system malfunction. Have the Toyota Tacoma inspected by your Toyota dealer to determine the cause of the abnormal reading.

Engine oil pressure gauge

If the value shown on the engine oil pressure gauge drops while the engine is running, stop the vehicle in a safe location immediately and check the amount of engine oil before continuing to operate the vehicle.

If the oil pressure drops even though the engine oil amount has not decreased, or if the oil pressure does not increase after engine oil is added, contact your Toyota dealer, as there may be a problem with the Toyota Tacoma engine lubrication system.

Engine oil temperature gauge and Transmission oil temperature gauge

1. Engine oil temperature gauge
   Displays the current engine oil temperature, allowing the driver to monitor this important engine operating condition.
2. Transmission oil temperature gauge (if equipped)
   Displays the transmission oil fluid temperature when this gauge is available on the Toyota Tacoma.

Boost gauge

Displays the boost pressure, providing the driver with a visual indication of the current boost level during engine operation.

Settings display

 Meter display settings that can be changed

• Language

Select to change the language used for information, menus, and supported messages shown on the Toyota Tacoma meter display.

• Units

Select to change the units of measure displayed, allowing supported vehicle information to be shown in the preferred measurement format.

• Meter Type

Select to change the meter type setting and choose from the available Toyota Tacoma instrument display configurations.

• Meter Style

Select to change the visual style of the meter display according to the available options.

• Dial Type

Select to change the dial type used for the meter presentation.

• Fuel economy display

Select to change the average fuel consumption display between after start, after reset, and after refuel information, depending on which fuel economy reference you want to monitor.

• Drive information and Trip A/B items

Select to configure the first and second items of the drive information display using any of the following available values: average vehicle speed, distance, or elapsed time. This allows the Toyota Tacoma driving information screen to emphasize the data most useful to the driver.

• Pop-up display

Select to enable or disable pop-up displays for each relevant vehicle system, controlling whether supported notifications automatically appear on the multi-information display.

• Default setting

Select to reset the meter display settings to their default configuration, restoring the original Toyota Tacoma display preferences.

 Suspension of the settings display

• Some settings cannot be changed while driving. When adjusting these settings, park the Toyota Tacoma in a safe location before operating the display controls.
• If a warning message is displayed, operation of the settings display will be temporarily suspended so that the warning information can take priority.

WARNING

Cautions during setting up the display

If the engine is operating while changing certain settings on the settings display, make sure that the vehicle is parked in an area with adequate ventilation. In an enclosed location such as a garage, exhaust gases containing harmful carbon monoxide (CO) may accumulate and enter the Toyota Tacoma cabin. Exposure to these gases may lead to death or a serious health hazard.

NOTICE

During setting up the display

To help prevent battery discharge, make sure that the engine is operating while configuring the display features, particularly when the setup process takes an extended period.

Stop & Start system information (if equipped)

• Stop & Start system operation time (after start)/status notification

Displays the current amount of time the engine has remained stopped through operation of the Stop & Start system since the engine was started.

The Toyota Tacoma multi-information display also shows the current status of the Stop & Start system through a pop-up notification when applicable.

• Stop & Start system settings

The length of time the Stop & Start system will operate while the "A/C" switch of the air conditioning system is on can be adjusted between 2 different levels in " Settings" of the multi-information display.

Suggestion function

The suggestion function displays relevant prompts to the driver in specific operating situations, providing timely reminders related to supported Toyota Tacoma functions.

To select a response to a displayed suggestion, use the meter control switches and choose the appropriate option shown on the multi-information display.

 Suggestion to turn on the headlights

If the headlight switch is in a position other than or , and the vehicle speed is 3 mph (5 km/h) or higher for a certain period of time while the surroundings are dark, a suggestion message will appear on the multi-information display to remind the driver to turn on the headlights.

 Suggestion to turn off the headlights

If the headlights remain on for a certain period of time after the engine switch has been turned off, a suggestion message will be displayed to alert the driver that the lights are still illuminated.

When the headlight switch is in the AUTO position, a message asking whether you wish to turn the headlights off will be displayed on the Toyota Tacoma multi-information display.

To turn the headlights off, select "Yes" using the meter control switches.

If the driver's door is opened after the engine switch has been turned off, this suggestion message will not be displayed.

 Customization

The suggestion function can be turned on or off according to the driver's preference through the available vehicle settings.
