- Shift lever light
- Footwell lights (if equipped)

Personal/interior lights main switch

- "OFF"
With the main switch in this position, the personal/interior lights do not operate automatically with the doors, but each light can still be switched on or off individually. - "DOOR"
The personal/interior lights illuminate when a door is opened and switch off after the doors are closed, providing automatic cabin lighting when entering or leaving the Toyota Tacoma. - ON
The personal/interior lights remain on and cannot be switched off individually while the main switch is set to this position.
Operating the personal/ interior lights
Front personal/interior lights
Operate the individual controls to turn the front personal/interior lights on or off as needed for localized illumination inside the cabin.

Rear interior lights

- Turns the rear interior light on continuously.
- Activates the door-linked function (door position), allowing the light to respond automatically to door operation.
With the door-linked function selected, the rear interior light turns on or off according to whether the doors are opened or closed.
The rear interior light also operates together with the front interior light, providing coordinated illumination throughout the Toyota Tacoma passenger compartment.
Cargo lamp main switch

- "OFF"
Selecting this position turns the cargo-related lights off and prevents automatic illumination through the door-linked function.
- "DOOR"
Automatic transmission vehicles: When the shift lever is in P or R, the cargo lamp, bed lamp and trailer hitch light (if equipped) illuminate when a door or the tailgate is opened. These lights switch off again after the doors and tailgate are closed.
When the shift lever is in D or N, the cargo lamp and bed lamp respond to door operation, turning on when a door is opened and switching off after the door is closed.
Manual transmission vehicles: When the shift lever is in N with the parking brake applied, or when R is selected, the cargo lamp, bed lamp and trailer hitch light (if equipped) illuminate when a door or the tailgate is opened. Closing the doors and tailgate turns these lights off, providing automatic exterior cargo-area illumination when access to the Toyota Tacoma bed or hitch area is needed.
While the shift lever is in N with the parking brake released, or when the manual transmission is in 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6, the cargo lamp and bed lamp illuminate when a door is opened and switch off after the door is closed. This provides automatic lighting around the Toyota Tacoma cargo area during normal entry and exit.
- "ON"
With the main switch set to "ON", the cargo lamp, bed lamp and trailer hitch light illuminate while the shift lever is in P or R on automatic transmission models, or in N or R on manual transmission models.
When the shift lever is in D on vehicles with an automatic transmission, or in 1 on vehicles with a manual transmission, only the cargo lamp and bed lamp illuminate. The trailer hitch light does not operate under these conditions.
Illuminated entry system
The illuminated entry system automatically controls the applicable Toyota Tacoma lights according to several vehicle conditions. Operation varies with the engine switch mode, detection of the electronic key, the locked or unlocked state of the doors, and whether the doors are currently open or closed.
To prevent the battery from being discharged
If a door is not completely closed while the main switch is in the "DOOR" position, the following lights will automatically switch off after approximately 20 minutes. This battery-saving function limits unnecessary electrical consumption if the Toyota Tacoma is left with a door partially open:
- Personal/interior lights
- Cargo lamp
- Bed lamp
- Trailer hitch light (if equipped)
Automatic illumination of the interior lights
If any SRS airbag deploys (inflates), or if the vehicle experiences a strong rear impact, the interior lights automatically illuminate. This can improve visibility inside the cabin immediately following a collision. The lights switch off automatically after approximately 20 minutes.
The interior lights can also be switched off manually. However, leaving them illuminated is recommended until the surroundings are considered safe, as the additional light may help occupants assess the situation and reduce the risk of further collisions. Depending on the severity of the impact and the specific collision conditions, the interior lights may not always illuminate automatically.
Customization
Certain Toyota Tacoma interior lighting functions can be customized, allowing selected operating characteristics to be adjusted to suit the driver's preferences.
NOTICE
To prevent battery discharge
When the engine is off, do not leave the interior, cargo or related lights illuminated longer than necessary. Prolonged operation can discharge the vehicle battery.
Removing light lenses
Never remove the lens from the personal/interior lights, as attempting to do so can damage the light assembly. If removal of a lens becomes necessary for inspection or service, contact your Toyota dealer and have the work performed correctly.
