FAIL-SAFE CHART

1. FAIL-SAFE OPERATION AND DEACTIVATION CONDITION

Switching between H4 and L4 prohibited (shift position N*1 or neutral*2 signal interrupted)

CAN communication signal from ECM is received and ignition switch is turned from off to ON

All switching prohibited

When rear differential is set to lock, rear differential switches to free*3

CAN communication signal from skid control ECU is received and ignition switch is turned from off to ON

U0416

Switching from 2WD to H4 and rear differential free to lock*3 prohibited When rear differential is set to lock, rear differential switches to free*3

Wheel speed sensor malfunction signals from skid control ECU return to normal and ignition switch is turned from off to ON

P163B

All switching prohibited

When rear differential is set to lock, rear differential switches to free*3

4 wheel drive control ECU internal circuit returns to normal and ignition switch is turned from off to ON

P17A0

All switching prohibited

When rear differential is set to lock, rear differential switches to free*3

Recovers from open circuit in A.D.D. shift motor drive circuit and ignition switch is turned from off to ON

P17A4

Switching between 2WD and H4 prohibited

A.D.D. actuator limit switch and A.D.D. position switch (3 circuits) signals return to normal and ignition switch is turned from off to ON

When rear differential is set to lock, rear differential switches to free*3

Recovers from open circuit in transfer shift motor drive circuit and ignition switch is turned from off to ON

Recovers from short to ground in transfer shift motor and A.D.D. shift motor*3 drive circuits and ignition switch is turned from off to ON

Recovers from short to B+ in transfer shift motor and A.D.D. shift motor*3 drive circuits and ignition switch is turned from off to ON

Transfer shift actuator limit switch signal returns to normal and ignition switch is turned from off to ON
