Cruise control allows the Toyota Tacoma to maintain a selected vehicle speed without requiring the driver to keep the accelerator pedal continuously depressed.
Use cruise control only on highways and expressways where traffic, road, and weather conditions are suitable for maintaining a steady speed.

- Safe driving remains solely the responsibility of the driver.
Do not rely excessively on cruise control. Even while the system is maintaining the selected speed, the driver must continue monitoring traffic, road conditions, and the area surrounding the Toyota Tacoma, and must operate the vehicle as necessary to maintain safety.
- Select an appropriate cruising speed based on the posted speed limit, traffic flow, road surface, weather, visibility, and other current driving conditions. The driver is responsible for checking that the set speed remains appropriate throughout the journey.
Situations in which cruise control should not be used
Do not use cruise control in any of the following situations. Under these conditions, the system may be unable to maintain appropriate vehicle control, and continued use could contribute to an accident resulting in death or serious injury.
- On roads with sharp bends where frequent changes in steering or vehicle speed are required.
- On winding roads where maintaining a constant set speed may not be appropriate for the changing road layout.
- On slippery roads, including surfaces affected by rain, ice, or snow, where available tire traction may be reduced.
- On steep downhill sections or roads with sudden transitions between steep uphill and downhill gradients. When descending a steep hill, the Toyota Tacoma may exceed the selected cruising speed even while cruise control is active.

Using the cruise control
Setting the vehicle speed
1. Press the driving assist mode select switch until Cruise Control Mode is selected.
When Cruise Control Mode is active, the cruise control indicator will illuminate to confirm that the system is ready for speed setting.
2. Use the accelerator pedal to bring the Toyota Tacoma to the desired speed of approximately 20 mph (30 km/h) or higher, then press the driving assist switch to register the current vehicle speed.
The vehicle speed at the moment the driving assist switch is released becomes the set speed that cruise control will attempt to maintain.
Adjusting the set vehicle speed

To change the cruising speed after it has been set, press the "+" or "-" switch until the desired vehicle speed appears on the display.
- Increase the set vehicle speed
- Decrease the set vehicle speed
The set vehicle speed can be increased or decreased using either fine or continuous adjustment:
Fine adjustment: The set speed changes by 1 mph (1.6 km/h) or 1 km/h (0.6 mph) each time the corresponding switch is pressed.
Large adjustment: The set speed increases or decreases continuously while the appropriate switch is pressed and held, allowing a larger speed change without repeated presses.
- Increasing the set vehicle speed using the accelerator pedal
1. Depress the accelerator pedal and accelerate the Toyota Tacoma until the desired vehicle speed is reached.
2. Press the "+" switch to register the current speed as the new cruise control setting.
Canceling/resuming control
1. Press the cancel switch or the driving assist switch to cancel cruise control operation.
Cruise control will also be canceled when the brake pedal is depressed, allowing the driver to immediately resume direct control of vehicle speed.
2. Press the "RES" switch to resume cruise control. When the required conditions are satisfied, the Toyota Tacoma will return to cruise operation using the previously set speed.
Automatic cancelation of the cruise control
Cruise control will be canceled automatically when any of the following conditions occur:
- When vehicle speed decreases by approximately 10 mph (16 km/h) or more below the set vehicle speed.
- When vehicle speed falls below approximately 20 mph (30 km/h).
- When brake control or output restriction control from another driving support system operates, such as PCS or drive-start control.
- Vehicles with manual transmission: When the shift lever is placed in N or the clutch pedal remains depressed for more than a certain period.
- When the parking brake is applied.
- When the driver's seat belt is unfastened.
- When conditions prevent some or all of the applicable system functions from operating correctly.
Display and system operation state
The operating condition of cruise control is shown on the vehicle display, allowing the driver to confirm the current set speed and system status while driving the Toyota Tacoma.
