The illustration shows the storage layout for Double Cab models. The shape, position, or availability of individual storage areas may differ on other Toyota Tacoma configurations.

WARNING
Items that should not be left in the storage spaces
Do not leave glasses, aerosol cans, or similar heat-sensitive items inside the Toyota Tacoma storage compartments when the cabin may become hot. High interior temperatures can damage these objects or create the following hazards:
- Glasses may deform under high temperatures or crack if they press against or strike other items stored nearby.
- Spray cans can rupture or explode when exposed to excessive heat. Contact with other stored objects may also damage a can and allow pressurized gas to escape, creating a possible fire hazard.
Glove box
Pull the glove box lever to release the latch and open the compartment.

WARNING
Caution while driving
Keep the glove box securely closed while the vehicle is moving. During sudden braking, an abrupt steering maneuver, or a collision, an open glove box or objects stored inside it could strike an occupant and cause injury.
Cup holders

Items unsuitable for the cup holder
Use the cup holders only for cups, beverage cans, or other containers intended to fit securely in the holders.
Do not use the cup holders as general-purpose storage for unrelated objects.
Loose or unsuitable items can be thrown from the holders during sudden braking, sharp steering, or a collision and may injure an occupant. Whenever possible, keep hot drinks covered to reduce the risk of burns if a container tips or spills.

Bottle holders
- Always tighten or close the bottle cap before placing a bottle in one of the holders.
- Some bottles may not fit securely because of their size or shape, so confirm that the container sits properly before driving.

Items unsuitable for the bottle holders
Do not place objects other than bottles in the bottle holders.
Other items may not be retained securely and could be thrown from the holder during a collision or sudden braking, creating a risk of injury.
NOTICE
Items that should not be stowed in the bottle holders
Make sure every bottle is capped before it is placed in a holder. Do not store open bottles, drinking glasses, or paper cups containing liquid in the bottle holders.
Liquid may spill into the Toyota Tacoma interior, while glass containers can break and damage surrounding surfaces or create sharp fragments.
Console box
Pull the release lever upward while lifting the lid to open the center console box.

Caution while driving
Keep the console box closed whenever the Toyota Tacoma is being driven.
An open lid or unsecured contents may cause injury during sudden braking, evasive steering, or a collision.
Console vault (if equipped)
The available console vault provides lockable storage inside the center console and can be secured or opened using either its key or the programmed security code.
How to change the security code
1. Confirm that the console vault is in the lock position, then align the number dials with the current unlock code.
The factory default security code is 0-0-0 unless it has previously been changed.

2. While pressing and holding the reset button, rotate the dials to the new security code you want to use.
3. Release the reset button after the new combination has been selected. The newly entered number becomes the security code for subsequent unlocking.
Use the key to open
The console vault can also be opened with the key without entering the security code, providing an alternative method of access.
1. Insert the key into the console vault lock and turn it to the unlock position.

2. Open the console vault after the lock has been released.
Match the security code and open
1. Rotate the number dials until they display the security code previously set for the console vault.
2. Move the locking mechanism to the unlock position after the correct code has been entered.

3. Open the console vault once the mechanism has been unlocked.
When the security code is forgotten
If the programmed combination has been forgotten, the console vault security code can be recovered by following the procedure below.
1. Insert the key and turn the lock to the unlock position.
2. Rotate each number dial until it reaches its stopping position.
3. Read the numbers at which the dials stop. These numbers indicate the current security code.
WARNING
Caution while driving
Keep the console vault closed whenever the vehicle is moving.
Leaving the vault open can expose occupants to injury from the lid or stored objects during an accident or sudden stop.
When opening and closing the console vault
Keep fingers, hands, and other body parts clear of the lid and surrounding edges while opening or closing the console vault to avoid pinching injuries.

Opening and closing
Never pry or force the console vault open while its locking mechanism is engaged.
Applying excessive force can damage the vault, locking components, or key.
Auxiliary boxes (if equipped)
Type A
Press the auxiliary box inward and release it to open the compartment.
This compact compartment is intended for temporary storage of small, lightweight items that fit securely inside.
Type B
Fold down the rear seatbacks to gain access to the Type B auxiliary storage area.
WARNING
Caution while driving
Do not leave an auxiliary box open while driving the Toyota Tacoma.
Stored objects could fall or be thrown from the compartment during a collision or sudden stop, potentially causing death or serious injury.
Items unsuitable for storing (type A)
Do not place items weighing more than 0.4 lb. (0.2 kg) in the Type A auxiliary box.
Excessive weight may cause the compartment to open unexpectedly, allowing its contents to fall out and potentially contribute to an accident.
Storage box (if equipped)
Type A
Open the storage box
Raise the bottom seat cushions to gain access to the Type A storage box.
Close the storage box
Return the bottom cushions to their normal seating position after the storage compartment has been closed and its contents are secured.
Type B
Pull the lever upward to release and open the Type B storage box.
- Unlock with the mechanical key
- Lock with the mechanical key
Type C
Pull the handle upward to release the lid and open the Type C storage box.
Type D
1. Rotate the knob counterclockwise to release the Type D storage box lid.
2. Lift and open the lid after the knob has been released.
Type E
Pull the panel outward in the direction shown in the illustration to access the Type E storage compartment.
WARNING
Caution while driving
- Keep the storage box securely closed whenever the vehicle is moving.
An open compartment or loose contents can cause injury during an accident, sudden braking, or abrupt steering.
- Secure all objects placed inside the storage box so they cannot move freely or escape from the compartment. During a sudden stop, unsecured items may be thrown outward and could cause an accident resulting in death or serious injury. Never leave the storage box open while driving.
- Do not pry the upper box lid open or force it downward beyond its intended movement.
Excessive force can damage the damper strings and interfere with normal operation of the lid.
Items unsuitable for storing (type E)
- Do not place items weighing more than 0.6 lb. (0.3 kg) in the Type E compartment.
Exceeding this limit may cause the auxiliary box to open unexpectedly and allow stored objects to fall out, increasing the risk of an accident or injury.
- An arrow is provided on the back side of the cover to identify the correct upward orientation when reinstalling it. Align the cover accordingly before securing it in place.

WARNING
Items unsuitable for the open tray
Observe the following precautions whenever items are placed in an open tray. Because these compartments do not have a closed lid, their contents must remain stable during normal vehicle movement.
Failure to secure or correctly position items can allow them to be thrown from the tray during sudden braking or abrupt steering.
Loose objects may interfere with pedal operation, distract the driver, or strike an occupant, increasing the possibility of an accident.
- Do not place objects in the tray if they can easily slide, shift, or roll out while the Toyota Tacoma is moving.
- Do not stack objects higher than the surrounding edge of the tray.
- Do not store objects that extend or protrude beyond the edge of the tray.
- Do not place or store items on the lower tray where prohibited.
- Objects left on the tray may be damaged when the upper tray is opened, so clear the area before operating it.
Storage hook
WARNING
To prevent damage to the storage hook
Do not hang any object weighing more than 6.6 lb. (3 kg) from the storage hook. Excessive weight can overload or damage the hook and may allow the hanging item to fall.
