USB Type-C charging ports
The USB Type-C charging ports provide electrical power for charging compatible external devices connected inside or around the Toyota Tacoma.
Use the appropriate connector and charging port for the device being connected, making sure the cable and terminal are suitable for the available USB Type-C connection.
These USB Type-C charging ports are intended exclusively for supplying charging power. They do not support data transfer, device communication, or other USB functions.
Charging performance can vary according to the external device, its power requirements, and its compatibility with the available charging output. Some devices may therefore charge slowly or may not charge correctly.
Before connecting an unfamiliar device to a Toyota Tacoma USB Type-C charging port, refer to the operating instructions supplied with that device and confirm its charging requirements.
Using the USB Type-C charging ports
On the instrument panel
The USB Type-C charging ports located on the instrument panel support high-power charging. A single port can provide output of up to 45 W, while the maximum combined shared output is 52.5 W when the available power is distributed between the ports.
These instrument-panel USB Type-C charging ports can operate at multiple voltage and wattage levels, allowing compatible devices to receive an appropriate charging output.

Rear of console box (if equipped)
The USB Type-C charging ports at the rear of the console box can supply up to 3.0 A at 5 V to compatible external devices, providing a convenient charging point for rear-seat occupants.

Bed (if equipped)
Open the protective lid to access the USB Type-C charging port located in the Toyota Tacoma bed.
The bed-mounted USB Type-C charging port can provide 3.6 A at 5 V, 3.0 A at 9 V, or 2.25 A at 12 V to compatible external devices. The actual charging output depends on the requirements and compatibility of the connected equipment.

The USB Type-C charging ports can be used when
The interior USB Type-C charging ports are available when the engine switch is in ACC or ON, or while the multimedia system is operating.
For the USB Type-C port located in the bed, the engine switch must be in ON before charging power is supplied.
Situations in which the USB Type-C charging ports may not operate correctly
- Rear of console box: Charging may not operate normally if a connected device requires more than 3.0 A at 5 V.
- Operation may be unavailable if equipment intended primarily for communication with a personal computer, such as a USB memory device, is connected instead of a charging device.
- Depending on the design of the connected external device, charging may stop when that device is switched off.
- Charging performance can also be affected when the Toyota Tacoma interior becomes extremely hot, such as after the vehicle has been parked in direct sunlight for an extended period.
About connected external devices
Depending on the characteristics of the connected device, charging may occasionally pause and then resume automatically. This intermittent behavior can occur during normal operation and does not necessarily indicate a malfunction of the Toyota Tacoma charging system.
NOTICE
To prevent damage to the USB Type-C charging ports
- Do not insert coins, metal pieces, debris, or any other foreign objects into the USB Type-C charging ports.
- Keep water, beverages, and other liquids away from the ports, as moisture can damage the electrical contacts.
- Do not strike the USB Type-C charging ports or apply excessive force when inserting, removing, or moving a connected cable.
- Do not disassemble, alter, or otherwise modify the USB Type-C charging ports or their surrounding components.
To prevent damage to external devices
- Do not leave external electronic devices inside the vehicle for extended periods. Interior temperatures can become very high, particularly when the Toyota Tacoma is parked in direct sunlight, and excessive heat may damage the device or its battery.
- While a device is connected, avoid pressing down on it or placing unnecessary force on the charging cable. Excessive stress can damage the device connector, cable, or USB Type-C port.
To prevent battery discharge
Avoid using the USB Type-C charging ports for an extended period while the engine is stopped, as continued electrical consumption may discharge the vehicle battery.
Wireless charger (if equipped)
The wireless charger can charge compatible portable devices simply by placing them on the designated charging area. Devices must support the Qi wireless charging standard established by the Wireless Power Consortium; compatible equipment can include smartphones, portable batteries, and other Qi-certified devices.

The Toyota Tacoma wireless charging function cannot be used with portable devices that are physically larger than the charging tray, because the device must fit correctly within the designated charging area.
Wireless charging performance can also vary depending on the design, construction, and operating characteristics of the portable device. Some compatible devices may not charge normally under certain conditions, so consult the device manufacturer's operating manual before using it with the wireless charger.
The "Qi" logo
The "Qi" logo is a registered trademark of the Wireless Power Consortium and identifies equipment associated with the Qi wireless charging standard used by the Toyota Tacoma wireless charger.

The charging coil inside the Toyota Tacoma wireless charger can move within the charging area to locate and align itself with the charging coil built into the portable device.
Charging can take place as long as the center of the portable device's charging coil remains within the designated charging area. Correct device positioning therefore helps the charger establish and maintain a stable connection.
If 2 or more portable devices are placed on the charging tray at the same time, the system may be unable to detect their charging coils correctly. As a result, one or all of the devices may not charge.
Using the wireless charger
Place a compatible portable device flat on the charging tray.
Position the charging side of the portable device downward and place the center of the device near the center of the designated charging area. Keeping the device correctly positioned helps the Toyota Tacoma wireless charger align its internal coil with the coil inside the portable device.
While wireless charging is in progress, the operation indicator light illuminates orange.
When charging has been completed, the operation indicator light changes to green. Depending on the portable device, the indicator behavior may differ as described below.
Vehicles with an automatic transmission

Vehicles with a manual transmission

Recharging function
- After charging has been completed and the charger remains in a suspended state for a predetermined period, charging starts again automatically. This maintains the portable device's charge without requiring the driver to reposition it.
- If the portable device moves significantly within the charging area, alignment between the charging coils can be lost and charging will temporarily stop. If the portable device's charging coil remains within the detectable charging area, the coil inside the wireless charger moves toward it and charging resumes after alignment is restored.
Rapid charging function
- The following types of portable devices support the rapid charging function:
- Portable devices compliant with WPC Ver1.3.2 and designed to support rapid wireless charging
- iPhones running an iOS version that supports 7.5 W wireless charging, including iPhone 8 and later models
- Portable devices compatible with the Galaxy original rapid charging standard
- When the Toyota Tacoma detects a compatible portable device that supports rapid charging, the wireless charger automatically changes to the rapid charging function without requiring a separate setting.
Lighting conditions of operation indicator light

*1: Charging power is not supplied while the wireless charger is in standby. If a metallic object is placed on the charging tray in this state, the object will not be heated.
*2: Depending on the portable device being charged, the operation indicator light may remain illuminated orange even after charging has been completed.
The wireless charger is not working properly
The following information describes situations in which the wireless charger may not operate correctly, together with the appropriate response to possible causes. If charging does not begin or stops unexpectedly, compare the observed condition with the applicable entry before repositioning or reconnecting the portable device.



The wireless charger can be operated when
The wireless charger is available when the engine switch is in ACC or ON, or while the multimedia system is operating. Under these conditions, a compatible portable device can be placed on the charging area to begin wireless charging.
Portable devices that can be charged
- Portable devices compatible with the Qi wireless charging standard can be charged using the Toyota Tacoma wireless charger. However, successful charging is not guaranteed for every mobile device supporting Qi Ver. 1.0 through Ver. 1.3.2 or later, as actual compatibility can vary by device.
- Under standard operation, the wireless charger is designed to provide low-power charging of 5 W or less to cellular phones, smartphones and other compatible portable electronic devices.
- Certain supported portable devices can receive more than 5 W of wireless charging power, as described below:
- Compatible iPhones that support 7.5 W wireless charging can be charged at up to 7.5 W.
- Compatible Galaxy devices supporting the manufacturer's original 10 W charging standard can receive up to 10 W.
- Portable devices compliant with EPP output as defined by WPC standard Ver1.3.2 can support charging at up to 15 W.
Using the smart key system
Wireless charging may pause briefly while the Toyota Tacoma smart key system searches for an electronic key. Once the electronic key has been detected, charging resumes automatically without requiring the portable device to be removed and repositioned.
When covers and accessories are attached to portable devices
Do not attempt wireless charging when a portable device has a cover or accessory attached that is not compatible with Qi charging. Depending on the material, thickness or construction of the cover or accessory, including certain genuine manufacturer accessories, wireless power transfer may be reduced or prevented completely.
If charging does not begin even though the portable device has been positioned correctly within the charging area, remove the cover and any attached accessories, then place the device on the charging tray again.
Important points of the wireless charger
- If the electronic key cannot be detected inside the Toyota Tacoma, wireless charging cannot be performed.
Opening or closing a door can cause charging to pause temporarily while the smart key system performs electronic key detection. Normal charging should resume after this process is completed.
- Both the wireless charger and the portable device may become warm during charging. A moderate increase in temperature is a normal result of wireless power transfer and does not by itself indicate a malfunction. If the portable device becomes excessively warm, its own protection function may temporarily stop charging. Allow the device temperature to decrease substantially before attempting to charge it again.
The cooling fan inside the Toyota Tacoma wireless charger may also begin operating to reduce internal temperature. Hearing the fan during charging is part of normal system operation and is not evidence of a fault.
Sound generated during operation
Operating sounds may be heard when the power supply switch is turned on or while the system is detecting and identifying a portable device. These sounds are produced by normal wireless charger operation and do not indicate a malfunction.

WARNING
Caution while driving
When a portable device is being charged, the driver should not operate the main functions of that device while driving. Looking at or handling a smartphone or similar device can distract attention from the road and surrounding traffic.
Caution while in motion
Do not charge lightweight portable devices, such as wireless headphones or similarly small accessories, while the Toyota Tacoma is moving. Because these items have very little weight, they may slide or be thrown from the charging tray during braking, cornering or sudden vehicle movement, potentially creating an unexpected hazard.
Caution regarding interference with electronic devices
Anyone using an implantable cardiac pacemaker, cardiac resynchronization therapy-pacemaker, implantable cardioverter, or another electronic medical device should consult their physician before using the wireless charger. Appropriate medical guidance should be obtained regarding any possible effects of electromagnetic fields produced during wireless charging.
To prevent malfunctions or burns
Follow all of the precautions below whenever the Toyota Tacoma wireless charger is being used.
Ignoring these instructions can cause the charging equipment or portable device to malfunction or become damaged. In more serious cases, overheating may lead to fire, burns or electric shock.
- Never place metallic objects between the charging area and the portable device while wireless charging is in progress, as metal can interfere with power transfer and may become excessively hot.
- Do not attach aluminum stickers, foil or other metallic materials to the charging area.
- Do not attach an aluminum sticker or any other metallic object to the side of the portable device, case or cover that rests against the charging area.
- Do not use the charging tray as a storage compartment for coins, keys or other small objects when it is not being used for its intended charging function.
- Do not subject the wireless charger or charging tray to strong impacts, heavy pressure or excessive force.
- Do not disassemble, modify, remove or otherwise alter any part of the Toyota Tacoma wireless charging system.
- Charge only portable devices that are compatible with the specified wireless charging system.
- Keep magnets and other magnetic objects away from the charging area.
- Do not attempt wireless charging if dust, dirt or other contamination covers the charging area. Clean the surface before placing a device on the tray.
- Do not cover the portable device or charging area with a cloth, towel or similar material during charging, as this can trap heat.
NOTICE
Situations in which the function may not operate normally
Wireless charging may stop, become intermittent or fail to begin under any of the following conditions. Some of these situations are normal operating limitations rather than indications of a Toyota Tacoma wireless charger malfunction.
- The portable device has already reached a full state of charge and does not request additional charging power.
- The portable device is simultaneously connected to a charging cable while it is placed on the wireless charging tray.
- Dust, debris or another foreign object is positioned between the charging area and the portable device.
- The portable device has become excessively warm during charging and its internal protection function has reduced or suspended charging.
- The temperature around the charging tray is approximately 95ºF (35ºC) or higher, such as when the Toyota Tacoma interior has become very hot after being parked in extreme heat.
- The portable device is positioned with its wireless charging side facing upward instead of toward the charging surface.
- A small portable device, including certain foldable designs, is positioned outside or significantly misaligned with the designated charging area.
- The portable device is physically larger than the charging tray and cannot be positioned correctly within the available area.
- The portable device has a camera lens or similar projection extending 0.12 in. (3 mm) or more from its surface, preventing the charging side from resting close enough to the tray.
- The vehicle is located where strong electromagnetic waves or electrical noise are present, such as near a television tower, power plant, gasoline station, broadcasting station, large electronic display, airport or similar facility.
- One or more of the following items is installed or trapped between the charging side of the portable device and the charging area, preventing proper alignment or reducing wireless power transfer:
- A thick case or protective cover
- A case or cover with an uneven, angled or tilted surface that prevents the charging side from lying flat
- Thick decorative elements attached to the device or case
- Accessories such as finger rings, straps or similar attachments
- A projection such as a camera housing creates a noticeable gap between the charging side of the portable device and the Toyota Tacoma wireless charging area.
- The portable device is touching or covered by any of the following metallic objects, which can interfere with charging or become hot:
- A flip-style case containing a magnet on the charging side of the portable device
- A card containing metal, aluminum foil or similar conductive material
- A wallet or bag manufactured from metal or containing substantial metallic material
- Coins or other small metal objects
- A heating pad
- CDs, DVDs or other similar media
- Metal accessories attached to or resting against the portable device
- A case or protective cover made from metal
- Electric-wave-type wireless remote controls are being operated close to the charging system and are interfering with normal wireless communication.
- The electronic key is not detected inside the Toyota Tacoma, preventing the wireless charger from operating under the required conditions.
- Two or more portable devices are placed on the charging tray simultaneously, making it difficult for the system to detect and align with the correct charging coil.
If charging remains abnormal, repeatedly stops without an identifiable cause, or the operation indicator light continues flashing under conditions not described above, the wireless charger may have developed a malfunction.
Have the Toyota Tacoma wireless charging system inspected by your Toyota dealer.
To prevent malfunctions and data corruptions
- Keep credit cards, magnetic cards, magnetic storage media and similar items away from the charging area during operation. The magnetic field produced during wireless charging may erase or corrupt stored information. Precision devices such as wristwatches should also be kept away from the charging area because electromagnetic influence may interfere with their operation.
- Do not place a non-contact IC card, such as a transportation system IC card, between the portable device and the charging area. The IC chip can become extremely hot during wireless charging and may damage either the card or the portable device. Pay particular attention to phone cases or covers that contain a non-contact IC card, as the card may remain hidden between the device and charger.
- Do not leave portable electronic devices inside the Toyota Tacoma when the cabin may become extremely hot. High interior temperatures can damage the device, affect its battery or cause a malfunction even when wireless charging is not being used.
If the smartphone OS has been updated
After a smartphone operating system is updated to a newer version, the device's wireless charging behavior or charging specifications may change. As a result, a device that previously charged normally in the Toyota Tacoma may operate differently following a software update.

To prevent battery discharge
Avoid using the wireless charger for an extended period while the engine is stopped. Continued charging can consume battery power and may eventually discharge the Toyota Tacoma battery.
Assist grips (if equipped)
An assist grip mounted on the pillar provides a convenient handhold when entering or exiting the Toyota Tacoma. Use the grip to support normal movement into or out of the cabin.

NOTICE
To prevent damage to the assist grip
Do not hang heavy objects from the assist grip or place excessive weight on it. The grip is intended to assist occupants when entering or leaving the vehicle, not to support heavy loads.
Coat hooks

WARNING
Items that must not be hung on the hook
Do not hang coat hangers, hard objects, sharp items or similar accessories from the coat hook. If the SRS curtain shield airbags deploy, such objects may be propelled through the cabin and could cause death or serious injury.
Power outlet (12 VDC)
The 12 VDC power outlet can supply electrical power to compatible 12 V accessories that draw less than 10 A. Confirm the electrical requirements of an accessory before connecting it to the Toyota Tacoma power outlet.
On the instrument panel
Open the protective lid to access the 12 VDC power outlet on the instrument panel.

Rear of console box (if equipped)
Open the lid to use the 12 VDC power outlet located at the rear of the console box.

Bed (if equipped)
Open the protective lid to access the power connection located in the Toyota Tacoma bed.
When the nearby USB Type-C connection is not being used, compatible 12 V accessories drawing up to 6 A can be connected to this bed power outlet.

The power outlet can be used when
The interior power outlet is available when the engine switch is in ACC or ON, or while the multimedia system is operating.
For the power outlet located in the bed, the engine switch must be in ON before electrical power is supplied.
When turning the engine switch off
Before turning the engine switch off, disconnect electrical devices that have charging functions, including portable battery packs and similar equipment. Leaving such devices connected may interfere with normal engine switch shutdown.
NOTICE
To avoid damaging the power outlet
Keep the power outlet lid closed whenever the outlet is not being used. The cover helps protect the electrical contacts from contamination and accidental contact.
Foreign objects, moisture or other liquids entering the power outlet can create a short circuit and may damage the outlet or connected electrical components.
To prevent the fuse from being blown
Do not connect an accessory requiring more than 12 V 10 A. Excessive electrical demand may overload the circuit and cause the fuse to blow.
To prevent battery discharge
When the engine is not running, avoid operating the power outlet longer than necessary. Extended use can reduce the battery charge available for normal vehicle operation.
Power outlets (120 VAC) (if equipped)
The available 120 VAC power outlets can be used as an electrical supply for compatible electronic devices designed to operate within the outlet's specified 120 VAC capability.
Using the power outlets
Rear of the console box
Open the protective lid to access the 120 VAC power outlet located at the rear of the console box.

Bed
Open the lid to access the 120 VAC power outlet positioned in the Toyota Tacoma bed.

When turning the power outlets on
Press the "AC120V" switch to activate the 120 VAC power outlets.
The outlets are available for use when the indicator on the "AC120V" switch is illuminated. Confirm that the indicator is on before connecting or operating compatible electrical equipment.
Each press of the "AC120V" switch alternates the power outlets between on and off. When the outlets are active, the switch indicator provides confirmation that AC power is available.

Maximum available capacity of the power outlet
- While the vehicle is being driven
When the Toyota Tacoma is moving, the maximum available output from the power outlet is limited to 120 V AC/100 W regardless of other operating conditions.
- When the vehicle is stationary
- The available capacity remains limited to 120 V AC/100 W when the shift lever is moved to any position other than P on automatic transmission vehicles or N.
- When the vehicle is stationary and the shift lever is in P on automatic transmission vehicles or N, the maximum available power increases to 120 V AC/400 W.
If the outlet output has previously been restricted, the maximum 400 W capacity is not restored automatically. After the required stationary and shift-position conditions are satisfied, turn the power outlet main switch off and then on again to restore the higher available capacity.
When connecting a device
Open the protective lid and insert the electrical device plug fully into the outlet. Make sure the plug is seated securely so that a stable electrical connection is maintained while the device is being used.
Rear of the console box

Bed

When turning the power outlets off
1. Switch off all electronic devices currently connected to the power outlets before disconnecting them.
2. Press the "AC120V" switch to shut off electrical power to the outlets.
3. Remove each plug from its power outlet after the connected equipment has been turned off.
4. Close the protective lid on every power outlet to keep the contacts protected when they are not in use.
The power outlet can be used when
The 120 VAC power outlets are available while the Toyota Tacoma engine is running.
Electronic devices that can be connected to the power outlets
Connect only electronic devices suitable for operation from the 120 VAC power outlets. Some equipment can draw a high current for a brief moment when starting, causing instantaneous power demand to exceed the rated outlet capacity. If this occurs, the outlet protection function may activate and temporarily prevent power from being supplied. This protective operation does not necessarily indicate a malfunction. When using electrical equipment inside the Toyota Tacoma, also observe the following precautions:
- Certain connected devices may produce electrical interference that affects television or radio reception.
- Read and follow all operating precautions provided in the instruction manual supplied with each electronic device before connecting it to the vehicle.
- Many ordinary household or general-purpose electronic devices are not specifically designed for operation inside a moving vehicle. As a result, the following problems may occur:
- Continuous vibration or impacts while driving may interfere with normal electronic device operation or cause a malfunction.
- Large temperature changes inside the vehicle may cause poor performance or malfunction of temperature-sensitive electronic equipment.*
- Some devices may operate unreliably if they cannot be positioned securely, since surfaces inside the vehicle may not provide the flat, stable installation area the equipment requires.
*: Depending on the weather, season and surrounding usage environment, temperatures inside the Toyota Tacoma cabin can become extremely high or low. Consider these temperature conditions before leaving or operating electronic equipment in the vehicle.
Power outlet
The power outlet located at the console box is provided as an electrical source for operating compatible electronic devices inside the vehicle. Use it only within the specified capacity and under the operating conditions described for the system.
Devices which may not operate correctly
Even when their rated specifications appear compatible, some 120 VAC devices may not function correctly when powered from the vehicle outlet. Examples include:
- Devices that require a high initial surge or peak wattage when they are switched on
- Precision measuring equipment that processes highly accurate or sensitive data
- Electronic devices that depend on an exceptionally stable electrical power supply
- Equipment requiring uninterrupted continuous power from the outlet, including devices that use timers or similar functions.
Operating the Stop & Start system (if equipped)
When the engine restarts after being stopped automatically by the Stop & Start system, power from the accessory outlet may be interrupted temporarily. This brief loss of outlet availability is part of normal system operation and does not indicate a fault. If the outlet remains unavailable after the Toyota Tacoma engine has restarted, press the "AC120V" switch again to restore outlet operation.
When the power supply function cannot be used
If the "AC120V" switch is pressed but its indicator does not illuminate, the power outlet protection circuit may have activated and interrupted the electrical supply.
When this occurs, identify the possible cause and carry out the appropriate procedure described below before attempting to use the Toyota Tacoma power outlets again.
- Disconnect all plugs from the power outlets and check the combined power consumption of every device that will be connected. Confirm that the total demand is within the permitted capacity, reconnect the devices, and then press the "AC120V" switch again.
- Unplug each connected electrical device and inspect it for signs of malfunction or abnormal operation. If the devices are functioning normally, reconnect them and press the "AC120V" switch again to restore power.
- If the Toyota Tacoma interior is extremely hot, such as after the vehicle has been parked in direct sunlight, move the vehicle to a shaded location and use the air conditioning system to cool the cabin sufficiently. Once the interior temperature has decreased, press the "AC120V" switch again.
If the power outlets remain unavailable after completing the applicable procedures above, have the Toyota Tacoma inspected by your Toyota dealer so the power supply system can be checked.
- If any connected electrical device develops a malfunction, stop the vehicle in a safe location and switch the "AC120V" function off before taking further action.
- If the protection function has activated and electrical power has been cut, use the following procedure to restore outlet operation.
1. Bring the vehicle to a complete stop in a safe location and firmly apply the parking brake.
2. Confirm that the shift lever is in P on vehicles with an automatic transmission or in N where applicable.
3. Verify that the combined power consumption of the connected electrical devices does not exceed 400 W and confirm that none of the devices is malfunctioning.
4. Press the "AC120V" switch to reactivate the power outlets.
If the vehicle interior is excessively hot, open the windows to release trapped heat and allow the cabin temperature to decrease. Turn the power outlets back on only after the interior has returned to a more normal temperature. If this procedure does not restore electrical power, have the Toyota Tacoma inspected by your Toyota dealer.
WARNING
For safe use
Observe all of the precautions below whenever electrical equipment is connected to the vehicle power outlets.
Failure to use the outlets and connected devices correctly may interfere with safe vehicle operation or create a fire, burn, or electrical hazard, potentially resulting in death or serious injury.
- Do not operate devices such as the following while driving:
- Electrical equipment that cannot be firmly and safely secured inside the vehicle and may move during acceleration, braking, or cornering.
- Devices that can distract the driver or obstruct safe driving, including televisions, DVD players, or similar entertainment equipment positioned where they draw the driver's attention.
- Unsecured appliances that generate substantial heat, such as toasters, microwave ovens, electric heaters, electric kettles, or coffee makers. During sudden braking or a collision, these devices can shift, spill hot contents, cause burns, or create a fire hazard.
- Any device, cable, plug, or accessory that could fall into the driver's footwell or become trapped beneath a pedal and prevent the brake pedal from being fully depressed.
- Do not operate equipment that produces steam while the windows are closed. Steam can quickly fog the glass and reduce visibility, making the Toyota Tacoma more difficult to drive safely. Moisture may also damage or adversely affect nearby electrical equipment. If such a device must be used, stop the vehicle in a safe place and open the windows before operating it.
- Do not connect damaged, defective, or abnormally operating electronic equipment to the power outlets. A malfunctioning device may activate the outlet protection function and prevent the power supply from operating.
- Never disconnect an electrical plug with wet hands, and do not insert pins, wires, tools, or other foreign objects into a power outlet. If water, melted snow, or another liquid is present on or around the outlet, dry the area completely before use.
- Do not modify, disassemble, or attempt to repair any Toyota Tacoma power outlet yourself.
If inspection, repair, or replacement is required, contact your Toyota dealer and have the work performed correctly.
- Do not allow children to touch, play with, or insert objects into the power outlets.
- Keep every power outlet clean and free from dust, debris, and other foreign material. Inspect and clean the outlets periodically so plugs can be inserted securely and electrical contact is not obstructed.
- If a device plug remains loose even after it has been inserted fully into the outlet, discontinue use of that outlet and have it replaced. Contact your Toyota dealer for information regarding inspection or replacement.
Using the power outlets while parked or stopped
When operating the power outlets while the Toyota Tacoma is parked or stationary, follow all of the precautions below carefully.
Ignoring these requirements can create unsafe conditions around the vehicle and may lead to an accident resulting in death or serious injury.
- Never leave the Toyota Tacoma unattended with the engine running while an electrical device remains connected to a power outlet. Stay with the vehicle so abnormal operation can be noticed and addressed immediately.
- Do not place luggage, equipment or other objects near the tailpipe, and do not remain close to the exhaust outlet while the engine is running.
- Make sure the hood is fully closed during normal power outlet use. Do not place your head, hands or clothing inside the engine compartment, because the cooling fan can start unexpectedly. Hands, loose clothing and items such as ties or scarves can become caught in a rotating fan and cause serious injury.
- Do not park or stop the vehicle near dry vegetation, combustible materials or other objects that can ignite easily.
- In areas with poor natural ventilation, including enclosed garages or locations where accumulated snow surrounds the Toyota Tacoma, provide suitable air intake and exhaust ventilation equipment before operating the engine and power outlets.
- Do not use the power outlets with the engine running in poorly ventilated locations that have no suitable supply and exhaust ventilation, including enclosed garages or areas where snow or other obstructions surround the vehicle and restrict exhaust dispersal.
- Do not operate the power outlets while a vehicle cover is installed. The cover can interfere with ventilation and may trap heat or exhaust around the vehicle.
- Do not sleep inside the vehicle while operating electrical appliances such as an electric heater. Conditions can change without the occupants noticing, creating a serious safety hazard.
Devices to be connected
- Before connecting any electronic device, read the manufacturer's instruction manual and follow all operating, installation and safety precautions specified for that equipment.
- Do not use an electrical device or power plug that is damaged, deformed, cracked or otherwise in poor condition.
- Electronic equipment may malfunction or operate poorly when ambient temperatures are exceptionally high or low, even if the device normally works correctly under ordinary conditions.
- Some electronic devices require a level and stable installation surface. Because the Toyota Tacoma interior may not provide such a surface, normal operation of this equipment cannot always be guaranteed.
- Unless an electronic device is specifically designed to be waterproof, do not operate it where it may be exposed to rain, splashing water or high levels of moisture.
- Do not use the vehicle power outlets as a power source for medical equipment. Depending on vehicle operating conditions, electrical output may be interrupted temporarily, making the supply unsuitable for equipment that requires continuous power.
NOTICE
Observe the precautions below whenever electrical equipment is powered from the vehicle outlets.
Failure to follow these instructions may cause the Toyota Tacoma power outlets to operate incorrectly or may damage the vehicle, outlet circuitry or connected electronic device.
To avoid short circuit or malfunction
- Do not place heat-producing appliances directly against interior trim or on a seat. Excessive heat can deform, melt or burn surrounding materials and may permanently damage the cabin.
- Avoid using electronic equipment that is particularly sensitive to vibration or high temperatures inside the vehicle.
Continuous vibration while driving can interfere with delicate equipment, while heat inside a Toyota Tacoma parked in direct sunlight may cause performance problems or permanent device damage.
- When a power outlet is not being used, close its protective cover securely. Dust, debris, moisture or other foreign material entering the outlet can cause a short circuit, corrosion or malfunction.
- Do not connect a multi-point outlet adapter or similar device that allows several loads to draw power from one outlet, as the combined demand may overload the circuit.
- Stop using the power outlet immediately if the outlet, plug or surrounding area becomes unusually hot. Disconnect the device only when it can be done safely and do not continue operation until the cause has been addressed.
When the ambient temperature is high
If the Toyota Tacoma interior has become extremely hot, such as after the vehicle has been parked in direct sunlight, move the vehicle to a shaded location and operate the air conditioning system until the cabin temperature has decreased sufficiently. After the interior has cooled, press the "AC120V" switch again and check whether normal power outlet operation has been restored.
Sun visors

- To position the sun visor in front of you, simply flip it downward from its stored position.
- For protection from sunlight entering through the side window, lower the visor, release it from its retaining hook, and swing it toward the side.
- To use the side extender, first move the visor into the side position, then slide the extender rearward to increase the shaded area along the side window.
Vanity mirrors (if equipped)
Open the vanity mirror cover to access the mirror.
When the cover is opened, the vanity light automatically illuminates, providing additional light for using the mirror inside the Toyota Tacoma cabin.

To prevent battery discharge
If a vanity light remains illuminated after the engine switch has been turned off, the light will automatically switch off after approximately 20 minutes to help limit unnecessary battery consumption.
NOTICE
To prevent the battery from being discharged
Do not leave the vanity lights operating for an extended period while the engine is off, even though an automatic shutoff function is provided.
Grocery bag hooks (if equipped)
The grocery bag hooks provide convenient hanging points for lightweight items such as shopping or grocery bags, helping keep them upright and organized during normal Toyota Tacoma use.

The shape, design and number of grocery bag hooks may differ according to the Toyota Tacoma grade and equipment configuration.
Auxiliary switches (if equipped)
When Toyota Genuine Accessories Pre-wired Auxiliary Switches* are connected to the vehicle, they provide access to a 12V DC powered circuit for operating compatible electrical accessories without requiring a separate switch installation.
Three auxiliary switches are provided, supplying power to connectors located at several points around the Toyota Tacoma. These connection points make it possible to integrate compatible electrical accessories in different areas of the vehicle.
To connect an accessory wiring harness pigtail, remove the waterproof cap, if fitted, from the appropriate vehicle wire harness connector and make the required connection using the designated accessory harness.
The auxiliary switches operate only when the engine switch is in ON, preventing accessory circuits from being powered through these controls when the required vehicle operating condition is not met.
When an auxiliary switch is pressed and its circuit is active, the indicator built into that switch illuminates, allowing the driver to identify which auxiliary output is currently turned on.
If overall electrical demand on the vehicle rises and battery voltage falls to a low level, the auxiliary switch system may automatically shut down to reduce the electrical load and protect available battery power.
Once vehicle electrical consumption decreases and battery voltage recovers sufficiently, the auxiliary switch system can become available again and resume normal operation.
