Toyota Tacoma (2015-2018) Service Manual: Acceleration Sensor Stuck Malfunction (C1232,C1243,C1245)

DESCRIPTION

The skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) receives signals from the yaw rate and acceleration sensor (airbag sensor assembly) via the CAN communication system.

The airbag sensor assembly has a built-in acceleration sensor and detects the vehicle condition.

If there is trouble in the bus lines between the yaw rate and acceleration sensor (airbag sensor assembly) and the CAN communication system, the DTC U0124 (malfunction in CAN communication with the acceleration sensor) is output.

These DTCs are also output when calibration has not been completed.

DTC No.

DTC Detection Condition

Trouble Area

C1232

Acceleration Sensor Stuck Malfunction

At a vehicle speed of 10 km/h (6 mph) or more, the acceleration sensor output value does not change for 30 seconds or more.

  • Acceleration sensor (Airbag sensor assembly)
  • Acceleration sensor (Airbag sensor assembly) circuit
  • Sensor installation

C1243

Acceleration Sensor Stuck Malfunction

Any of the following is detected:

  • Output values of the acceleration sensor do not change 16 times or more while vehicle speed decreases from 30 km/h (19 mph) to 0 km/h (0 mph).
  • Output values of the acceleration sensor are outside permitted output range for 60 seconds or more.
  • Left and right output values of the acceleration sensor are outside permitted output range for 60 seconds or more.
  • Acceleration sensor (Airbag sensor assembly)
  • Acceleration sensor (Airbag sensor assembly) circuit
  • Sensor installation

C1245

Acceleration Sensor Output Malfunction

At a vehicle speed of 30 km/h (19 mph) or more, the difference between the forward and backward G calculated from the acceleration sensor value and that calculated from the vehicle speed exceeds 0.35 G for 60 seconds or more.

  • Acceleration sensor (Airbag sensor assembly)
  • Acceleration sensor (Airbag sensor assembly) circuit
  • Sensor installation

HINT:

DTC will be output when conditions for any of the patterns in the table above are met.

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

NOTICE:

  • When replacing the skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly), perform zero point calibration and store system information (See page ).
  • When replacing the yaw rate and acceleration sensor (airbag sensor assembly), perform zero point calibration and store system information (See page ).

HINT:

When U0124 and/or U0126 is output together with C1232, C1243 and/or C1245, inspect and repair the trouble areas indicated by U0124 and/or U0126 first (See page PROCEDURE ).

PROCEDURE

1.

CHECK DTC

(a) Clear the DTC (See page ). (b) Turn the ignition switch off. ).

(b) Turn the ignition switch off.

(c) Start the engine.

(d) At a speed of 30 km/h (19 mph) or more, drive the vehicle, turn the steering wheel, and decelerate (depress the brake pedal) the vehicle.

(e) Check that no CAN communication system DTC is output (See page (f) Check if DTCs for zero point calibration of the yaw rate sensor undone (C1210) (f) Check if DTCs for zero point calibration of the yaw rate sensor undone (C1210) ).

(f) Check if DTCs for zero point calibration of the yaw rate sensor undone (C1210) or for zero point calibration of the acceleration sensor undone (C1336) are output (See page Result Result ).
