Customizable features
The Toyota Tacoma includes numerous electronic functions that can be adjusted to better match the driver's preferences and typical vehicle use. Depending on the feature, these settings can be changed through the multi-information display, the multimedia system, or with assistance from your Toyota dealer.
Customizing vehicle features
Changing by using the meter control switches (with 7-inch display)
1. Press

on the meter control switch until
is selected on the multi-information display.
2. Press
/
on the meter control switch to move through the menu and highlight the vehicle function you want to customize.
3. Press, or press and hold,
as required for the selected function.
The choices displayed may differ depending on whether the switch is pressed briefly or held down. Read the information presented on the display and follow the on-screen instructions for the selected setting.
Changing by using the meter control switches (with 12.3-inch display)
1. Press and hold the applicable meter control switch to display the cursor in the center content area of the multi-information display.
2. Press
/
on the meter control switches to highlight "
Settings", then press
to enter the menu.
3. Press
/
on the meter control switches and select the function or setting you want to change.
4. For functions that can simply be switched on or off, press the appropriate control until the desired setting is selected.
5. For functions that offer additional adjustment options, press and hold
to open the detailed setting screen.
The procedure for detailed customization is not identical on every screen, because the available choices depend on the function being adjusted.
Follow the guidance and explanatory text displayed on the relevant setting screen to complete the change correctly.
Changing by using the multimedia system
1. Select
from the main menu.
2. Select "Vehicle customize".
3. Follow the information shown on the multimedia display and select the setting you want to modify.
A variety of Toyota Tacoma functions can be personalized through this menu, depending on vehicle equipment and specifications.
Refer to the customizable feature tables below to determine which settings are available and where each one can be changed.
WARNING
During customization
Because certain customization procedures require the engine to remain running, perform these adjustments only while the vehicle is parked in a location with adequate ventilation. Never leave the engine operating in a closed or poorly ventilated space such as a garage, where exhaust gases containing carbon monoxide (CO) can accumulate and enter the passenger compartment. Carbon monoxide exposure can cause serious health effects or death.
NOTICE
During customization
When customization requires an extended period with electrical equipment operating, keep the engine running as specified to help prevent unnecessary battery discharge.
Customizable features
Changing one customizable function may also alter another related setting at the same time. The exact relationship between linked settings depends on vehicle equipment and configuration. Contact your Toyota dealer if you need additional information about a particular customization.

Vehicle customization

When the smart key system has been switched off, the entry unlock function cannot be customized because the related smart-entry operation is unavailable.

If the doors remain closed after they have been unlocked and the timer-controlled automatic locking function subsequently relocks them, the confirmation signals will follow the current operation buzzer volume and operational signal (emergency flasher) settings.

Certain settings can be changed directly with a vehicle switch as well as through the multimedia system. When a setting is altered using a switch, the new value may not immediately appear in the multimedia system. The displayed setting is updated after the engine switch is turned off and then returned to ON.
Initialization
Items to initialize
Following events such as reconnecting the battery or performing certain maintenance procedures, some Toyota Tacoma functions require initialization before they can resume normal operation. Complete the applicable initialization procedure for each affected system.
